Client Profile:

Existing Insurance – Unwanted
Subpar Health  

Problem:

Client, age 73, has two existing life insurance policies that he no longer wishes to maintain. His health has changed dramatically from the time these policies were issued to now. The client wants immediate cash for the policies and does not want to continue premium payments. One policy is term insurance, with no cash value available to recoup premium costs, if surrendered.

Solution:

The client pursues a life settlement for both policies to assess the value of the policies on the secondary market, instead of lapsing or surrendering them. The client receives significantly more than the cash surrender value for the settlement of his universal life policy in 2014. The client is amid settling his term policy for nearly $1 million dollars, which is much better than the $0 surrender value!
